Pegasus January Challenge

A big thank you to Sally for this suggestion.

I have really enjoyed doing the Treasure Hunt set by Jo Valentine this year and as I write I think Team Groves still have one item to get!

Mark is keeping us on track with the Club Handicap Challenge and we are ready for next week’s 1 mile run.

January can be a really difficult time for a lot of people and this year more than ever I think we will find it hard. Every year Mind organise the RED January challenge which I have done a couple of times over the years.

Now RED January is not all about running and we as runners forget there are other things we can do to help our mind and body. This year I am challenging all you Pegs to have a go at something different – I am not saying no running as I for one will be out as much as I can.

Why not challenge yourself to do 15 minutes of exercise everyday – walking, yoga, pilates, cycling, online circuits (the list is endless)? I have already decided to do 15 minutes of cycling (static bike) and a 1minute plank every day!

Why not try a new activity every week as an alternative and see if it lifts your mood and motivation?

There are some great resources on the RED January website which you can download – https://redtogether.co.uk/downloads/

Why not download a calendar and at the end of the month share what you have been able to do?

For some of us running is not an option at the moment either due to illness or injury so let’s be inventive. Why not share your challenges and ideas and if you use an online pilates site or bootcamp then let us know and perhaps some of us will give it a go.

Good luck everyone and let’s see the ideas flowing to beat the January blues!

It’s not going to be easy but we are here for each other so please shout out if you need help, ideas and encouragement. Let’s have some fun and see if we can maintain our fitness over the next month.

  1. Happy New Year all.
    Good idea Sally,
Did a cycle to the full sized table tennis table outside The Secret Garden, Bute Park yesterday. Took my own bats and balls but you can lend them from the café. Check website for opening times. Nice coffee & cakes too, but bit of queue! Walk up Garth Hill today. Who knows tomorrow. Good Luck everyone.
    Lexi 🚴‍♂️👍

    1. Well done Lexi and so glad you are joining in. Sounds like you are trying to be inventive too. Keep the ideas flowing and good luck with the rest of the challenge xx
