Well as Pegs we have been taking part in Run up to Christmas to support charity and keep motivated to get out during December since 2020. In our fourth year we managed our biggest ever team with 47 Pegs, family and friends taking part.
We set ourselves a challenge to try to make top 5 in the team event and when it looked like we were going to make top 3 we turned our sights to distance – could we maybe cover 5,000km? We organised long social runs to see the Baubles in Gwaelod woods, we had our annual Christmas lights club run, we did parkrun takeover at Trelai and lots of parkrun tourism.
Dogs got extra walks, babies/ toddlers were pushed and one injured member admirably hobbled over 12km to help out the team total. Then a few days before Christmas we looked at distance covered and collectively thought could we maybe reach 6,000km – my apologies to everyone who got dragged out for a walk on Christmas Day to get us over the line! Culminating as ever in a Christmas Day meet up at Cardiff parkrun. Collectively we covered 6,055km across a huge 1,115 activities. Shall we do it all again next year?
