Pegs Naked Run, by Michelle Thomas

20 Pegs and friends met on Sunday morning to take on the Cardiff parkrun course Naked! Yes you heard me right… Naked. That is no Garmin watches, no phones, no GPS. Would they prove that runs do exist if they aren’t on Strava?!
The aim was to correctly predict a 5k time without the help of GPS. Sixteen runners had secretly sent me their predicted times, the stop watch started and off they went. As runners started to reappear some obviously going all out and others skipping across the line it was anyone’s guess who would be closest to their time.
The results were fed into a spreadsheet and the difference was calculated…
3rd place was Sally only 19 seconds off her predicted time, 2nd was Naz a mere 10 seconds out and with his metronomic pace was Rhydian, only 3 seconds off his predicted time.
There was also a wooden spoon given out for the person furthest from their predicted time. This went to Jenna who was 2mins 5seconds under what she thought she would do, a big under estimate of her ability!
There were prizes for the winners but no one went home empty handed, there was a goody bag for all!
Everyone really enjoyed the event and this added to the funds already raised for Taff Ely Foodbank by Pegasus RC and friends, which now totals over £2000. An amazing achievement!
