Woolacombe the second hardest parkrun in the country

Well we’re all on our way home after what has been a fantastic 24 hours.
After a longer than expected journey down we all checked in to our various accommodations and met for dinner. It was a fun evening with club members and a few partners. Everyone was made welcome. Ellen chose to carb up with Mac n cheese and garlic bread knowing she’ll need the extra energy for her fancy dress run in the morning.
Saturday morning arrived, despite the forecast of storms the sun was shining.
We arrived at Woolacombe parkrun and found out it was the highest tide this year 😬
At 9am we set off on the second hardest parkrun in the UK. The first mile was along the beach and we were all grateful that the tide had gone out slightly so we didn’t need to run through the water, just across the sand. Then the Dune of Doom was lurking. The braver ones ran up it but most power walked, this was followed by more sand and we knew we were close to the finish once we scaled the Slope of Hope.
As always the faster Pegs we’re there to cheer in the team.
The event finished outside a coffee shop with the most amazing cakes and rolls. The perfect end to what has been an amazing 24 hours!
