2024 – “Well that’s a wrap”

Another busy year in the world of racing and although we are a small club we have had a representative at so many events this year. The range of events has been phenomenal and some only attract one or two members whereas others can see the whole club turn out. Despite being a small club we still managed to achieve some top three in age group placings for several races. A huge well done to all those who achieved this and just remember “You have to be in it to win it” so try your best and get out and run.

Parkrun is definitely a firm favourite with many in the club and some have travelled far and wide to participate in these events. Parkrun tourism features a lot in pre marathon destinations and the number of challenges that have been completed this year has kept some of us very entertained. I am sure this will continue well into 2025.

The range of races we have participated in are as follows:

5k – Ssafa series, Nos Galan, Race for Victory (Whitchurch), Berlin

10k – Cardiff Bay, Porthcawl, Cardiff, Newport, Treforest, Richard Burton, New York, Egypt, Caerphilly

Half marathons – Merthyr, Great North Run, Cardiff, Swansea, Lake Vyrnwy, Berlin, Lanzarote, Wokingham, Southampton, Newport

Marathons – Barcelona, Manchester, Great Welsh, Newport, Snowdon, Abingdon, Valencia, Brighton, Loch Ness, London

Trail races – Rabbit Run, Pen y Fan Challenge (5m & 13m), Riverbank Rollick, Pentyrch Hill Race, Gwent League Cross Country, Vale Coastal

Other – Castle to Castle, Severn Bridge Night Race & Twilight Race, Lliswerry 8. Reverse 10, Brecon to Cardiff Ultra, Cardiff 20/10, Cardiff Summer Series, Rose Inn Series, Caerleon 5m, Cosmeston Relays, CPR, Roman Run, Oldbury 10, Tywyn Race the Train, Rhayader Round the Lakes, Old Father Time, Rack Raid, San Dom 20/10, Coastal 50

And last but not least Run up to Christmas – I think this is our most competitive running event of the year and sees most of us running or walking those extra few steps to keep up on the Leaderboard.

I am sure there are a few races which have been missed off the list so if you have done anything else please let us know and tell us a bit about the race.
