Below you will find a few more details on some of the better loved races favoured by Pegs runners. This is intended as an overview for new and old members. If you want to know a bit more about the individual events speak to any one of us.
Rack Raid 22/05/22

This is a favourite of the club and is an invitation only race. It involves over 100 miles of racing split into 13 stages of varying distances ranging from 5.1 to 13.1 miles. It starts at 7:30 a.m. at Grosmont Castle and finishes around 7:00 p.m. at Castell-Y-Bwlch (drinks and BBQ available at the pub on the top). It covers most of the Castles and Monuments of Gwent. To put out a team we firstly need 13 runners, but also a lot of volunteers to drop off and pick up runners, support, provide refreshments etc. It is a great day out, but if people can only run or help for part of the day that is no problem. One word of advice, none of the legs are flat, they are all challenging in their own way, but on completion the feeling of satisfaction is tremendous.
Summer Series 29/04/22 to 19/08/22 http://www.cardiffrunningevents.org/cardiff-summer-series.php
This is a series of 5 races starting at 1 mile and ending on 5 miles with all points in between. They start or finish on the Spine Road in Pontcanna. They are nice and flat and a great test of pacing over a mixture of distances. They will all be run of a Friday evening throughout. Each race costs £4 to all affiliated members. Currently on the web link above it is only showing 4 races but there will be the last 5 miler.
SSAFA races 18/05/22 to 27/07/22 https://www.ssafa.org.uk/cardiff-vale-glamorgan
This is series of three 5K races over the summer period. SSAFA is an armed forces charity and has always been well represented by Pegs. The races are all run in and around Bute Park, which again lends itself to a nice flat course. You register for this on the night so you can leave until the last moment to decide whether you want to take part.

This is a one-off 5K race, run on the Cardiff parkrun course. This is an online entry, not yet open at £4, with on the night entries will be an extra £1. This is an event where the men chase the ladies.
Cosmeston Relay race (Provisional date 06/07/22 https://penarthanddinasrunners.co.uk/cosmeston-relays
This is a great evening out. We try to enter as many teams as possible of all abilities. For those of you who haven’t done this before speak to Sally or other members. For those wishing to take part let Sally know as we must enter our teams very quickly once the entries go live.
